To help ensure an accurate design process, the inquiry form asks you to upload reference images and photos of the area on your body where you’d like the tattoo placed. This page shows you exactly how to take those photos so your submission is clear and easy to work from.

Reference Photos

Reference images help communicate the style, subject matter, vibe, and visual direction you’re drawn to. You’re welcome to upload:

  • Tattoo styles you like (even if unrelated to your idea)
  • Photos of objects, art, or designs that inspire you
  • Sketches, screenshots, or mood boards

No need to overthink it, just drop in anything that helps show the direction you want to go.

Tattoo Placement Photos

When asked to upload a photo of the placement area, this means a clear, straight-on photo of the body part where the tattoo will go. This is what gives us the best idea of scale, shape, and how the design will flow with your body.

Placement Photo Tips

✅ Do: ❌ Avoid:
Have someone else take the photo if possible Mirror selfies (angles are distorted)
Stand still with your arm/leg relaxed and visible Trying to take your own photo (twisting or cropping part of the limb)
Make sure the photo is level and straight-on Photos taken too close or too cropped (we need to see the full zone)
Include the entire area where the tattoo may be placed Low lighting or shadows that make it hard to see the area clearly
